Love That Chicken From Popeyes

Posted by Revolving magnum condom filler

Yesterday Popeyes had an amazing sale; 8 pieces of chicken for $4.99. Putting aside then my immediate pessimistic thoughts ( Thinking the chicken is probably ten years old, or something equally negative), I thought this was the greatest thing to happen in my life since figuring out the parental control password to the Internet at my house.

You can actually say that I like fried chicken, hell you can say that I would consider murdering the new born baby from the Children of Men for a two piece and a biscuit. But I have better sense then that. The people waiting on line at Popeyes yesterday, however, not so much.

I was hearing stories about how this one huge black guy, after waiting in line for one hour, reached the counter- money in hand - ready to take advantage of this wonderful deal had been instructed to turn around and exit the store because all the chicken had run out. Now, if was in this situation I would be mad. I would make a fuss and give disparaging remarks like,

" Are you sure the chicken is done? You know tomorrow the price is gonna go back up; you can't sell it on the street as if it were crack. You can become a famous rapper some other way. Ever consider being shot in the face? "

Rude and grotesque I know, but I would have left with my dignity after that. How did the 6-5, 350 lb line backer respond to such news? How any ginormous hungry ape would. He allegedly ransacked the store, hopped the counter and beat up the fry cook in the back. I know this sounds a little extreme, and I'm sure if this is true that guy is tasting more pig than chicken in his jail cell right now. But still!

Do black people love fried chicken that much? Unfortunately I believe so. Dave Chappelle said it best,
"Black people are genetically predisposed to liking chicken" there is nothing that can be done about it.

So, a word to Popeyes. Next time you decide to offer sales/marketing ploys involving your chicken, please be sure to only advertise in Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota or any other state where you won't find people who are already in love with your product. The children will thank you.

Why Can't All Indians Look Like This?

Posted by Revolving magnum condom filler

Just finished watching a very good movie called Slum Dog Millionaire. A feel good film that reminds me of my childhood, minus the abject poverty. Overall Slum Dog was very entertaining and worth seeing twice.

The clincher for me was actress Freida Pinto (see above), an Indian actress/model considered to be the Angelina Jolie of India. Now, I'm not one to compare, or cast judgment on the "hotness rating" of females but. WHO THE HELL THINKS ANGELINA JOLIE EVEN COMPARES TO THIS GIRL? She kept me at least 55% erect the entire movie, and that includes frames she wasn't in. All I'm saying is that I go to an engineering school called NJIT aka "the New Jersey Indian Temple," and I've never seen any female that even remotely comes close to this girl, Indian or no Indian.

I am now resolved on becoming the greatest copywriter in the world, winning countless Clio's and Cannes lions just so I can cap off my life with a trophy like Freida Pinto. Mumbai here I come!

The Key to my Existence

It's been over a month since my IPhone was either stolen or misplaced during my boondoggle in Hoboken. Ever since then I have not been the same. And aside from me waking up at three in the morning, in cold sweats, schmaltz-ed at the reminiscence of my long lost sidekick (and im not trying to make reference to that horrid T-mobile phone). I get constant reminders of how important the IPhone was to me and civilization

The best example I can give without crying, is when I failed my corporate finance midterm two weeks ago because I was unable to figure out how to input the complicated math formulas onto regular calculator. A problem that I never had when I owned an IPhone, because of the financial calculator app I purchased at the beginning of the semester.

How does my lost phone affect civilization? Simple. If I am destined for greatness - which most people agree with me that I am : ) - I can't have my life turned upside due to lack of proper equipment. Me without an IPhone is like King Arther without his sword, Duke Nukem without his kick ass shot gun and most rememberable catch phrase "bitchn."

Camelot can not be saved with a Samsung I607 (Black Jack). And the Zombies/Aliens will take over this planet to eat the brains of children everywhere, if I don't get my IPhone back.
So please whoever has my IPhone, PLEASE be kind enough to realize impact you can have on someones life by returning his one true love.

The Beginning of my Copywriting Manifesto

Posted by Revolving magnum condom filler

I never really understood what a personal manifesto was; at one point and time I thought it referred solely to the Communist Manifesto. I also believed that any phrase containing the word "communist" was associated with the devil (gotta love 1930's propaganda). But now that I am a more educated, I realized that having a personal manifesto is essential for anyone who needs direction and or framework for attaining their life/career goals. It hit me when I saw Blogger and Creative Director Makinads speak about the "Blank Page Manifesto". The concept of this manifesto -according to contributor, Greg Christensen- is that a blank page is essential to the creative process and "to get good at anything. You have to start from the basics, in advertising that's called a great idea."

That idea really stuck with me. I interpreted Greg's statement as, "in order to develop your own manifesto you have to start on a clean page and dig into the basics, with the curiosity of a child. Your curiosity and mastery of the fundamentals will lead you into a new plateau of innovation and creativity.

With that in my head I am now focused on understanding the basics and not rushing my progress. I will periodically update my manifesto, adding concepts, ideas and basics that I feel needed for an aspiring copywriter.

Manifesto

  1. Don't be afraid to ask dumb question you don't know

  2. Some people say you should never ask a dumb question. But if you don't know the answer you're the one who is going to remain ignorant. If you want to succeed in life you are going to have to ask questions that others may deem simple and infantile. So be it. Deal with the embarrassment and learn.
